Invincible

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Sobriety is…

in!

And stylish!

I just read through the new Active webpage. I think that it looks great. And I also think that it has many good functions with a lot of potential.

www.activeeurope.org

I hope that this webpage will become a strong tool for Active to promote this organizations as it is – and as it should be seen by millions of Europeans:

the only European youth organization dealing with alcohol policy from a coherent approach and with a bigger perspective, linking alcohol issues to global problems/ issues of Human Rights/ Children Rights, a democratic society, tolerance and intercultural understanding, youth empowerment – and fun.

Sobriety is stylish!

And it is IN!

Yes we can…

yes, we did!

We do!

(Since it seems to be appropriate for today)

It feels incredibly good to watch that movie.

It feels incredibly good to see those people.

It feels incredibly good to see the faces of the passers-by.

It feels so incredibly good to watch that activity and to somehow try to understand it meaning.

Active like this – it rocks!

Sobriety is in – or what?

And that is the beauty about Active, that it is not “only” about sobriety, abstaining, not drinking… NO! It is about inclusion/ exclusion and tolerance/ intolerance and democractic attitudes and respect for Human Rights and a lot of more respect.

And then we go out, and we tell it! The world has to know this!

(and since Obama won today – remember: “Yes We Can!” - I am so enthusiastic to say: The world has to know this! The world has to join this!)

a project of hope…

Dealing with alcohol policy issues I came across this institution:

http://www.camy.org/

The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth – it seems like a very good project, with good, useful and valueable sources. I became happy when I found – which I did via the webpage of IOGT International.

I just hope that there is not the alcohol industry behind it – somewhere hidden. I know it sounds paranoid. But there are several similar “projects” that are financed by the alcohol industry. They just appearto serve a good cause but actually aim on protecting and advocating the industry’s interests. And those are interest’s that oppose public health, the well-being of individuals and families.

So, I hope that Camy is on the good side.

Number of the day – from the Camy webpage:

60 811 alcohol advertisments on TV that kids were more likely to see than adults – in 2005. What does this number say about the industry?

What do I say: Sobriety is in!

unf president…

on TV tonight.

As I just read in Robert Damberg’s blog, he will be participant in svt1 programme “Debatt” tonight at 22:00 o’clock.

The topic – as I understood from Robert’s entry – will be youth and alcohol.

I think it is great that UNF has such a position in society in Sweden to be invited to a TV debate! It shows that UNF has done a paramount job the recent years.

Also great: that television is discussing issues like that (after my srong criticism of MTV few days ago).

Now I am just hoping that they don’t show a football match at the same time ;-)

HARD RAIN PROJECT

www.hardrainproject.com

“A hard rain’s a gonna fall” by Bob Dylan provides the lyrical inspiration to the exhibition of photos by Mark Edwards. Photos about the defining issues of today’s world: Poverty, habitat loss, climate change, human rights…

On PEACE DAY 2008 I walked through this exhibition on a square in Örebro. It is a brilliant creation. Inspiration.

We allow contradictions, scandals, violations of basic rights and the destruction of our world. And we do this on all levels. SOme of us support populistic, xenophobic and racist political leaders. Others of us support discrimminating friends, excluding class or team mates. Again others just ignore clear signs of abuse and failure over years and construct a world for themselves in order not to feel responsible, not having to take measures.

Like Bob Dylan, this face of this planet has seen people who carry the light in them.

Instead, however, of letting the light shine, so many people try to diminish and even extinct that light of hope.

Why? I wondered why, when I thought myself through the Hard Rain Exhibition in Örebro.

a project of hope…

August 9, 2008

a project for hope, too?

People are reading blogs of 14-year-old girls, and make them rich by clicking through the blog daily (at least in Sweden).

I think there are many webpages that should be visited. This is one of them. However, it is pitty that this one exists.

www.crisisgroup.org.

They are working to prevent conflicts world wide.

It seems to me, though, that they “only” can manage the conflicts.

project of hope…

July 4, 2008

I googled and found this:

http://www.projectofhope.org/

This blogg has the same name and the same aim and yet a different purpose.

There is also a book called “projects of hope”. It is a book about the alternative nobel price. The subheading reads: “Views on a different globalisation”. I got this book from an inspiring person, a person who gives me hope.

But this blogg is no comercial for either of the afore mentioned. It is another project of hope.

Is it a good sign that there seem to be many projects of hope?
